The heart of The Mason Jar, owner Cathy Frith has created a store experience that goes far beyond shopping. Dreaming for years of blending her creative backgrounds - fashion and interior styling - with a love of building community, Cathy’s decision to open the boutique was prompted by the passing of her father, and with that, a deep sense of right timing.
The bond of family runs strong through The Mason Jar, which has been shaped in many ways by each of the four generations, including Cathy’s grandson, the store’s namesake. As such, customers are welcomed as family, an aura of warmth, kindness, and belonging enveloping all who enter.
With a keen eye for buying and merchandising, Cathy brings her chic yet approachable style to women of all ages while championing home-grown brands and products. She also confirms that “there is no age restriction on following your dreams,” and is keen to foster more encouragement between small businesses, especially women-owned.
Loving nothing more than building relationships with her customers, Cathy’s magnetic authenticity is reason enough to visit The Mason Jar. Yet, shoppers are equally sure to spot many unique and special items that spark memory and joy.

Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Elaine came to Canada at age 24 on a 2-week vacation. During that time she met her future husband, and never left! Elaine enjoys having family and friends around her, gardening, doing jigsaw puzzles, and having a glass of wine at the end of the day. Although a bit of a home bird, Elaine would one day like to travel with her first stop being Ireland.
